Adam Ratner

General Counsel

Adam Ratner is an accomplished legal executive and strategic advisor with more than 20 years of experience building, scaling, and leading legal and compliance functions for global retail, fashion, e-commerce, and technology companies.  He brings a robust general counsel perspective, with particular depth in labor and employment, data privacy, and artificial intelligence.

Adam honed his retail and e-commerce expertise across several leading retail, fashion, and hospitality companies, including as Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Chief Compliance Officer at Hudson, a global travel retail giant. As a member of the executive leadership team, he guided strategy and led all aspects of the legal and compliance function. He was instrumental in accelerating business growth through innovative licensing and supplier arrangements with top brands, including Apple, Burberry, Hermès, Victoria’s Secret, Kate Spade, Tory Burch, Tumi, MAC, Vineyard Vines, and Sunglass Hut, as well as numerous food and beverage partners. He also led high-impact digital initiatives, including the launch of the first Amazon "Just Walk Out" frictionless payment stores in airports, and Hudson’s first e-commerce sites, consumer apps, and loyalty programs.

Adam also served as Vice President, General Counsel, and Chief Compliance Officer at New York & Company, where he advised on corporate governance, M&A, real estate, labor and employment, technology, IP, data privacy, sourcing, and marketing. He guided the company’s transformation from a traditional brick-and-mortar retailer to a digitally-focused omni-channel business, overseeing new sales and distribution channels, negotiating high-profile celebrity partnerships, and leading the manufacturing compliance function.

Most recently, Adam served as General Counsel for Onix Networking Corp., a private equity-backed technology consulting firm. In this role, he oversaw all international legal, regulatory, and compliance matters, with a strong focus on the retail vertical, advising on business strategy, complex technology transactions, data privacy compliance, and AI product development.

Adam began his legal career as a Law Clerk for the Hon. John M. Cannella in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, and later practiced at White & Case and Littler Mendelson.

He holds a J.D. from Hofstra University Law School, where he was an editor of the Hofstra Law Review, and a B.S. from Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations. Adam is a dual-certified privacy and artificial intelligence professional (CIPP/US and AIGP) and is admitted to practice in New York, California, and New Jersey.

Outside of the office, Adam is an avid runner, live music fan, and a passionate home cook, with a particular affinity for spicy food (which he unfortunately cannot share with dog Ozzy).
